Unfortunately, this weekend is my birthday, and a big one. I told John I didn’t want to do anything because, truly, I’m not a birthday person, and I’m the least excited about this birthday than I have been for the last 29.
He read between the lines and understood that doing nothing actually meant going to Chicago!! I can’t wait to visit the baby’s godmamma’s new bakery, By The Park, have a birthday drink at POPS (I hope that’s on the itinerary, John!), maybe a class at Flywheel and take the baby to see the giant Christmas tree at Macy’s.
Sometimes I miss being pregnant and working out. Even if I ran for twenty minutes and had to walk half of it, I always felt like I accomplished something huge.
I’ve been craving Greek food, specifically spanakopita. I made a whole casserole dish of it this week then realized I had actually been craving baklava. Not the same.
I really need some new recipe inspiration. When I asked John if he liked the spanakopita, he said there were a lot of leftovers.
I always do treats in stockings. Last year, I filled John’s stocking with Newman’s chocolate peanut butter cups (which he said do NOT taste like Reese’s), beer and snacks for our Christmas trip. So what do I put in the baby’s stocking? She has so much stuff! Puréed carrots? She’s going to hate Christmas.
This weekend is the Army/Navy game. I’m not an Army or Navy fan, but the Army/Navy game a few years ago was one of the most epic days of my 20’s. My friend and I wore Go Army shirts to a Navy bar (where months later I would meet my future Navy husband). That obviously went terribly, but we love rooting for the wrong team (and we love to bring up that time the Patriots were 18-1). That same friend is surprising me (ok, not a surprise, she totally ruined the surprise because I obviously know about it and that’s why she’s one if my best friends) by coming to Chicago this weekend and I’m SO excited!
