Its been a slow week back to work. Vacation definitely wasn’t relaxing, and I feel like I need 2-3 weeks of sleep or Netflix to recover. Vacation also has me missing my San Diego people. It’s so nice to have grandparents to help, friends to run with, hills to run on and my favorite places to eat. Mostly the latter. I’ve been compensating by making comfort food all week and forcing my coworker to run with me at lunch.
But, it’s a fresh year and I’m excited for the things to come. We’re kicking off February by going to the Super Bowl! This is a huge check on the bucket list–even though both the teams I like, the (Los Angeles?) Chargers and the Giants are obviously terrible. Of course it will end up being the Patriots and John will have to find someone else to go. We’re following up the weekend in San Francisco with three of my favorite places, Napa for a wine tour, Big Sur and Bend, Oregon. When on the West Coast…
This could also be our last full year in Charleston if John chooses to reenlist in the Navy. It’s a tough decision. It would be hard to move around for the next decade, especially with children, but the benefits of the healthcare and retirement are hard to ignore. Plus, if John were to get out, we have NO idea where we would go. And there’s always the lingering thought that the Navy would force us back to San Diego…(just checking if you’re reading this John!).
I was a huge Serial fan last year. I still fluctuate daily, is Adnan guilty? Today I think definitely. I’ve been meaning to listen to the new Serial for weeks, and, it’s not that I can’t multitask, it’s that everyday I forget my headphones. Every. Day. I even thought about ordering some on Amazon and having them delivered to my work.
Big shout out to one of my best friends and graphic designer who helped design my blog. WordPress wouldn’t allow any pictures to be uploaded last night and I wanted to share a veggie mac ‘n cheese recipe (I wasn’t kidding about the comfort food). She helped fix the issue! Keep a look out for the post. It’s a healthier take on my absolute favorite food. As healthy as anything with a pound of cheese can be.
I also made these spaghetti squash enchiladas. Total mind twister. I kept thinking they were spaghetti squash spaghetti. But they’re really good and made great (and great smelling) leftovers.
Tomorrow is my favorite day of the week. It’s Express Barre at Barre Evolution, a 45 minute class that I’ve been fitting into my work schedule. I even block it off on my calendar. Because of the holiday, it’s been almost a month since my last class. Luckily, I have my baby to keep my arm muscles in check, but my abs are still on vacation. And I can’t wait to wear a pair of my new Athleta pants…I told you. Obsession. And SUPER on sale. The pants on the right are 39.99$ and the blue pants are 27.99$ down from 74$!
