Pregnancy Workouts and Miles – Week 35

Big reality check today.

My coworker, who is only three weeks ahead of me in pregnancy, gave birth over the weekend.

First, a huge congratulations to her! She rocked her pregnancy, worked out almost the whole time, looked amazing AND went to a birthing center. Birthing centers are where they dont’ give you drugs. She’s a champion. And her new daughter is absolutely precious and has a ton of hair. (Not that that matters, but it’s super cute).

But, with her giving birth, I’m now reminded that I’m RIGHT BEHIND HER. There’s this week, a short week for me since we’re trying to drive up to Virginia Beach to look at houses (IF John gets orders), next week, a short week for everyone since somehow it’s already Thanksgiving, then one more week before I’m scheduled to have Baby Sweet 2016.

I guess I should have realized I’m that close, since I feel like I’m running with 1980’s ankle weights and a prize-sized watermelon. Some of my workouts have been good, but, for the most part, I’m feeling like I’m in the last few weeks of pregnancy, as I suppose I should. I definitely have motivation to keep running though, even if it’s short and slow and sometimes uncomfortable (different than painful), because the benefits–endorphins, sleep, appetite–are worth it.

Saturday
Workout: Suzanne Bowen Prenatal Barre
Duration: 1 hour
Notes: Arms, legs and cardio sculpt.

Sunday
Workout: 6 Miles
Pace: 9:53
Duration: 59:14
Notes: I did feel pretty good this run…but I also have a confession. I propped up my phone to take a picture (because, Instagram), and as I was running away from the timer I ran off the sidewalk and rolled my ankle. I was sure I’d broken, or at least sprained it, but somehow I was able to walk it off. Yep, that’s super embarrassing.

Monday
Workout: 3.5 Miles plus stretching
Pace: 9:59
Duration: 34:57
Notes: I felt pretty tired and tight after this one, some relaxing stretching helped…but then I had to go back to work.

Tuesday
Workout: Suzanne Bowen Prenatal Barre Streaming
Duration: 40 min
Notes: Plus standing in line for two hours to vote…

Wednesday
Workout: 4 Stroller Miles
Pace: 11:04
Duration: 44:18
Notes: First, stroller miles are WAY harder pregnant. Second, I didn’t bother pausing my phone when the baby would throw her toys, snacks, blankets out of the stroller and I’d have to stop and get them. It is fun having a running buddy though. 🙂

Thursday
Workout: Spin
Duration: 40 min
Notes: Spinning is DEFINITELY getting more uncomfortable, now that my belly reaches my knees.

Friday
Workout: Rest day! (And a much needed, very relaxing, massage therapy appointment).

Total Miles: 13.5

Workouts: 3 runs, 2 barre workouts, 1 spin, 1 rest day
